My rule about panels

My rule about panels at events is I only take part if it is encouraged to actually talk through and debate ideas with the other panelists.

Most panels are just advertising pieces for the companies on them - everyone nods heads and says great point to prerehearsed questions. I’m not sure anyone actually enjoys or gets value from that format.

We need a lot more public discourse of different ideas, exploring live where you might be right or wrong. Giving actual value of an experience rather than a set of lines like a politician.

Obviously, that’s unless you pay me money to be on the panel. Then, I’ll nod along harder than anyone 👍
